Poison Ivy...How to Prevent the Problem
The Summer is upon us and so are those nasty rashes that can be most unpleasant. A new drug designed to PREVENT the effects of the related plants Poison Ivy, Oak,
or Sumac, is now available.
The over the counter medication was approved last year and is sold under the trade name "Ivy Block". It should be applied at least 15 minutes before possible exposure and then reapplied every four hours. It should NOT be used once the rash has appeared. Check with your physician/pharmacist before using.
For further information on these plant related diseases, be sure to read the Poison Ivy article on the MedicineNet site.
